Senior instructor Tom LoVarco has been training in Kenpo Karate since 1985. Mr. LoVarco is an 9th degree Black Belt in Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate under Mr. Joe Palanzo (10th Degree Black Belt) and also serves as Executive Vice President to the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association.
Tom LoVarco and his wife Lorraine LoVarco have used the popularity of their karate instruction school to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local and national charities through fundraisers and demonstrations. These charities include the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The American Heart Association.
The LoVarco's host one of the largest tournaments in the New York area -- The American Karate Championships -- each year. In addition, they coordinate the entire tournament circuit for the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association. Mr. LoVarco has provided karate instruction to hundreds of students from the academy in Massapequa Park that have become highly successful martial artists. His demonstration teams have held first place positions in all divisions and have been featured on The Montel Williams Show.
Mr. LoVarco has continued improve the lives of his students since 1994 through karate instruction and study of the Martial Arts. He focuses extensively on helping them develop strong character values to enhance their success and happiness.
Chris Lo Varco started his Martial Arts journey at the age of 6. He now has over 34 years of experience training in various Martial Arts. First starting in the art of Shotokan and obtaining the rank of 1st degree Brown Belt, He now holds two Black Belts, a 4th degree Black Belt in Ed Parker's American Kenpo and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under 6th degree Black Belt, Alexandre "Soca" Freitas. He has Amateur Kickboxing and Mixed Martial Arts experience fighting for the WKA, WFL and AFL. In addition, he is a 1st place Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament competitor. His Karate tournament credits include first place wins in forms, self defense and sparring. He is also a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer. Chris has over 20 years of teaching experience and prides himself on being on being a positive influence and role model to every student that steps into the school.
Danielle manages the women's fitness program. She is a certified personal trainer and kickboxing instructor. Danielle has been training under her father, Tom LoVarco, since she was 6 years old.
