Over the years, we have truly developed an adult Martial Arts program designed for everyone. No matter your age, sex or physical fitness level. The adult Martial Arts program at American Black Belt Academy in Massapequa Park offers a combination of fitness and self-defense while developing self-discipline, perseverance and respect. Our program includes classes in American Kenpo Karate & MMA Striking and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Every class is a great cardiovascular workout. All aspects of Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate system are taught, including striking techniques, forms, self-defense techniques, sets and basics. Our curriculum is approved by the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association. Our Kenpo classes also cover all aspects of MMA Striking techniques (Boxing, American Kickboxing, Karate & Muay Thai) making students some of the most well rounded striking Martial Artists around. To compliment the striking taught in our American Kenpo class we also teach our students one of the most unstoppable Martial Arts, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that can be trained for sport or self-defense. The focus of Jiu-Jitsu is submission grappling (ground fighting). It teaches a person to successfully defend against an opponent using leverage and technique. The fundamental ground moves are those that neutralize, immobilize, choke or apply pressure or twisting to the body’s larger joints (submissions) to conquer over an adversary’s attack. ED PARKER’S AMERICAN KENPO

American Kenpo is a modern street self-defense art, which is a method of physical and mental conditioning, created by the late Grand Master Ed Parker. He styled a realistic method of self-defense that utilizes all our weapons (hands, fingers, elbows, knees and feet) in ways that anyone can perform. It emphasizes speed, power, agility and accuracy, but requires no special strength or abilities. Kenpo movements will help develop better coordination, increased strength and flexibility. Kenpo is a combination of ancient fighting techniques and modern scientific principles, a force which can overwhelm any attacker. Every block is a strike, every strike is a block. This logical and sequential flow of motion is the essence of Kenpo.



BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

We teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the way it was originally designed, FOR THE STREET! We do not structure our classes based around the rules of a competition. All students are taught practical, street applicable Jiu Jitsu guaranteed to keep you safe and protected in any situation. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fundamentals classes are perfect for those with no experience and will lay the foundation for your BJJ journey. Through the use of submission grappling our classes teach proper defensive and offensive skills. By learning proper defense, takedowns, sweeps, submissions and positional control, our Jiu Jitsu classes will give you not only a great workout but the confidence and skills to keep you safe and in great shape! MMA Striking teaches students striking tactics used by professional MMA fighters. By developing basic and advanced striking skills, hand speed, punching power, kicking technique, footwork, stamina and strong defensive skills, students will learn practical and realistic movements that work in the ring or cage as well as on the street. In addition to devastating strikes students will also learn how to prevent someone from taking them to the floor. We believe in a street fight keeping the fight standing is always the best option.
